About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer to join a growing design consultancy and provide ongoing technical design support to a range of clients in the UK with ongoing work available and excellent development opportunities for the right individual. As a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer, you will be working on a range of projects with differing complexities and should be able to demonstrate experience in completing design on projects in a range of sectors. Your daily activities will involve the production of Temporary Works drawings, as well as the production of in-house manufacturing drawings. You will work on on-off projects as directed by the Design Manager, as well as providing technical support to the Sales Team and customers.

Within the role as a Senior Temporary Works Design Engineer it will be essential for the chosen individual to complete accurate reports and designs, and your input and
contribution to the team are viewed as essential in the continued development of the
business. You will have full technical responsibility for your projects and be expected to manage your designs and follow the internal QA procedures. Your role will encompass site meetings and inspections nationwide in support of your design work, and you will work closely with the Regional Sales Managers across the UK.

You will be providing technical guidance to the Sales team, whilst supporting the company's internal design team including Graduate Engineers, Design Engineers and Technicians. This position will support the Engineering Manager and Chief Engineer, and your position will entail supporting with training and recruitment, as well as assisting with bespoke engineering projects. The main core of the role will focus on delivery of project workload, whilst managing more junior staff and both producing and checking drawings and designs. You will also have responsibility for identifying the training requirements for Graduate and Design Engineers within their job role and implementing an adequate training plan.

This position will see you actively contribute to internal senior engineering meetings,
and quarterly team meetings and attend regional and national construction events. It is ideally suited to someone with IEng professional status with the ICE or IStructE,
although the company does have an excellent approved training scheme and an incredible track record in supporting staff to achieve their professional qualifications, so someone who has not already attained Chartered status could be suitably provided they are keen to complete this and actively work towards doing so with the company’s support.

About you:

Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years experience working for UK based
companies and a background working on a range of projects is desired to ensure
a close match to the existing and upcoming workload. In addition to having a confident, commercial and professional outlook you should have:

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

• Minimum of 8 years UK based experience in Structural / Geotechnical design

• Experience working with a range of complex temporary works projects

• Strength in working to British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant design guidance

• Strong analytical, communication and technical design skills

• Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English

• Desire to progress within a supportive organisation

• Thorough understanding of embedded retaining wall design

• Design experience of steel to concrete connections

• Good understanding of CDM 2015

• The ability to apply in depend on engineering judgement to solutions
